I have wanted to read a book by Julia Alvarez for a long time now. I am so glad that I finally have. I just loved her style. I thought that In The Time of the Butterflies was a great book. I felt as though I really knew the sisters and feared for their lives. I found myself wanting to tell them to turn back when they went off for that last time. I wanted someone to help them when they were overtaken by the thugs who would kill them. Their voices came through so loud and clear in her writing. I hope that the rest of you enjoyed the book as well. I know it has a somewhat difficult narrative structure, and hopefully you were willing to persevere and get through it.
